On Friday 12th October we set off to Nottingham with 10 Boys and 6 staff. We arrived
at 9:30pm and promptly settled in.
On the Saturday we travelled into the city on the tram and the first place we visited was
the Tales Of Robin Hood. inside the attraction we went on a ride to tell us about Robin
Hood and his 'merry men'. As we had a taste for Robin Hood it seemed the appropriate
thing to do some archery. The staff member in charge of the archery who was dressed as Robin Hood is an Boys' Brigade Officer in Nottingham. Some boys and staff had a go with mixed results.
After raiding the gift shop we went to Nottingham castle and had our lunch in the grounds. The next thing to do was to have a look at the castle, well its hasnt been what
most of us call a proper castle for a few hundred years and is better described as a stately home. We looked around the castle and the BBC's Robin Hood T.V's series exhibition.
It was time next to look around the caves under the castle and with our own guide told
us the history of castle and caves and some grim stories of torture, which of course the
Boys enjoyed. At the end of the tour and feeling like a womble we looked around a toy museum and a air raid shelter at the base of the castle rock in the rock.
With our feet aching we headed back to Queensbury Baptist church for our tea and to let our feet cool down. The day hadnt finished because it was back on the tram and we went ten pin bowling. We had a couple of games and every-one really enjoyed themselves.
Sunday morning we joined the church for a lively service and then had sunday lunch.
We left Nottingham in the afternoon a bit tired but with the memories of a great camp.
